Are you worried with the thought that maybe you are not a photogenic person? That maybe the camera hates you? Do you sometimes look like this?

Maybe if you had any photographer friends then they must be of a great help, but if you don’t have any or if your photographer friends enjoy seeing you look ugly in photos then that is fine too. 1. Wearing the right clothes

Choose wisely what you wear, Something you know looks good on you, especially go with the colors that look good with your complexion and hair. Avoid wearing baggy clothes.

If you’re healthy then wear darker clothes because they make you look thinner. Also Solids look better than Patterns in pictures, but usually smaller patterns are the problem as they look a bit messy in a picture. Choose one patterned element in your wardrobe instead of wearing patterns from head to toe.

2. Avoid standing directly under a light

Standing directly under a light source can cast shadows on your face which might look bad. So, try standing while facing a light source, where the light hits your face.

3. Avoiding half-closed eyes in pictures

If you have a problem of blinking in photos, then close your eyes before the picture is about to be taken and then open them slowly right before the camera clicks.

4. Elongate your neck to avoid double chin

If you have double chin then push your face a little forward while taking a picture. It might be awkward for you but it definitely would look good.

5. Examine why you look bad in pictures

Spot the difference by looking at your old photos, where you look good and bad. Then try avoiding those bad pose in pictures and replicate your best poses from your favorite photos. Also look at the pictures of different people that look really good in photos, learn their pose and style.

6. Stand straight

Correct your posture as this is very important. It also plays a vital role in being healthy. Not just it looks bad to stand with a bad posture, it also puts a strain on the muscles of back and also the spine.

7. Practice posing in front of a mirror

Find out your best pose, or angle from which you look good. Observe which side of you looks better, left or right. As our face is not entirely symmetrical so there is always one side that looks better than the other. 

8. Fixing your hair style

Fix your hair right before taking the picture, try using a mirror or the front camera of your mobile phone. Run your hands through your hair to correct a certain part or fluff it up. Avoid styling products that give a wet or crunchy look to your hair, as the hair with too much product won’t photograph well.

9. Avoiding Red-Eye clicks

The best way to avoid red-eye is to actually avoid cameras with flash. But if there isn’t enough light in the room and the flash is necessary then avoid looking directly at the camera lens. Also try standing a bit further from the camera. Try making the room brighter by turning on lights as darker the environment, the more dilated the pupils become.

10. Smile Naturally

Avoid fake smiles as they look really bad and forced in pictures. If you are not happy at the moment, try remembering a happy memory, favorite meal or something that cheers you up. You can also get someone to stand out of the frame to make you laugh. Also practice and differentiate your natural smile from your fake smile in front of a mirror.
